  • Has volunteering affected City Hosts’ sense of wellbeing and/or civic pride?
  • What should organisers of future events consider when involving volunteers?

This seminar was organised by the Warwick Medical School’s Department of Health Sciences and Coventry University’s Research Centre for Intelligent Healthcare.

When

The seminar took place at the Coventry Telegraph Hotel on 2 November 2022.

About

To address specific Outcomes detailed in the Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 (UK CoC 2021) Theory/Story of Change, the Coventry City of Culture Trust commissioned a series of focus studies.

This focus study worked with people who volunteered to become City Hosts to support the UK CoC 2021 programme. It considered how their involvement might have affected their wellbeing and levels of civic pride.

Research Question

How and to what extent has the City Hosts’ volunteering programme impacted on those taking part, particularly in terms of subjective wellbeing and civic pride?

A report is available on the Volunteering, Wellbeing and Civic Pride focus study page that provides an overview of findings and conclusions.
